Benefits of Being an Animal Shelter Volunteer

According to the CCSPCA, there are several mental health benefits to volunteering at an animal shelter. When coping with the loss of a pet, for example, volunteering at an animal shelter can help assuage the emptiness that is often felt from the loss of a beloved pet family member. If there is ever a day when you feel as though you have lost all hope or faith in other humans, remember that such emotions are temporary, and that you are still a human who is capable of loving and doing good for others, especially for our furry friends. Nothing beats the excitement of an optimistic animal wanting to get to know you and show you their seemingly unconditional love. For more information on how you can volunteer, check out your local shelters to see how you can make a difference!
